At their June board meeting, the Austin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously adopted a position statement supporting the accomplishment of the outcomes in Austin ISD’s strategic plan. The Capital City African-American Chamber of Commerce and Austin Asian American Chamber of Commerce have endorsed the position statement.
The statement calls on Austin ISD trustees to accomplish the district’s strategic plan and East Austin schools plan, balance the FY11 budget and cut spending further to focus on reallocation.

The district’s strategic plan calls for calls for 90 percent of the Class of 2014 (today’s rising ninth graders) to graduate, 77 percent of the Class of 2014 to enroll in postsecondary education, and more than 90 percent of students enrolled in the district for at least three years to be on grade level by 2015.
